Reuters —Mexico’s largest airline has offered to fly Olympic divers Alejandra Orozco and Gabriela Agúndez to this year’s world championships for free after government funding cuts forced them to try to find ways to pay their own passage. Elite Mexican aquatic athletes have been driven to selling towels and bathing suits among other fundraising initiatives since government funding was cut in a row over the governance of the Mexican Swimming Federation (FMN). Moments later, however, they received an on-air call from an Aeromexico executive, who said the airline would ferry the entire diving team to the Aquatics World Championships in Japan in July. The Aeromexico offer is not the first case of private initiative coming to the aid of Mexico’s aquatic athletes. Billionaire businessman Carlos Slim, through his philanthropic foundation, funded the Artistic Swimming team’s trip to the World Championships in Egypt, where they won three golds and a bronze earlier this week.

March 22 (Reuters) - A previously unknown painting by famed U.S. artist Jackson Pollock has been discovered in Bulgaria by police investigating international art smugglers, officials said. The work could be worth up to 50 million euros ($54 million), Bulgarian National Radio reported, citing experts. Several people, including Bulgarian citizens, were arrested in the international operation, state news agency BTA reported on Tuesday. The report did not give a description of the painting or any other details on the work. "This is an international operation with the participation of Europol, Greece and other countries," Petar Todorov, Bulgaria's Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said, according to the Novinite news agency.

Majoritatea celor aproape 7 mii de locuitori din Chirsova sunt convinşi că vaccinul ar avea efecte mai grave decât virusul. În satul Chirsova s-au imunizat doar 94 de oameni, adică 1,36% din populaţia totală.

Nu în ultimul rînd, Sorin Alexandrescu s-a lansat, cel puţin, prin ultimele 2 cărţi publicate în Romania, „Paradoxul Român” şi „Privind înapoi modernitatea”, într-un tip foarte delicat de investigaţie retrospectivă. Dar despre ce nu se vorbeste de loc este despre alte forme de intoleranta, chiar între români între ei. Cred ca aici este un anume progres de mentalitate. Sorin Alexandrescu: Mai întîi, pendularea între două oraşe are foarte multe aspecte plăcute dar şi foarte multe aspecte de dezorientare permanentă despre care nici eu nu vorbesc şi nici ceilalţi care se află în situaţii asemănătoare.
